Dell Rapids Fire Department deployed five ground monitors to cool the area and prevent extension to the structures in the immediate area of a gas leak. A Ford Explorer pickup also burned in the incident. Fire departments from Dell Rapids, Baltic and Colton responded, along with Minnehaha Search and Rescue.

On Tuesday June 10, 2014 fire crews from Dell Rapids were called to a car fire in near the Dell Rapids St. Mary’s Catholic School. Upon arrival the fire department found a Ford Explorer engulfed in fire. The department was also met by an underground utility crew that indicated a gas line had been ruptured by the crew.

     The next SAFER Recruitment and Retention workshop has officially been scheduled for Aug. 23rd and 24th in Omaha.  It will be held Saturday the 23rd 9 a.m.–5 p.m. and Sunday 8 a.m.–3 p.m. at the Embassy Suites Hotel in downtown Omaha.
