On Sunday evening Aug. 3, at 6:11 p.m., the Le Mars Fire-Rescue Department was called to 16123 Hickory Avenue for a house fire. This was about 11 miles west and north of Le Mars. The house is owned and occupied by Joe and Lisa Lehner. Smoke could be seen from just west of Le Mars, so the Akron Fire Department was requested to assist.

More than 120 personnel from 28 different fire departments participated in a training burn of an elevator and two annexes owned by Heartland Cooperative in Minburn on Sunday, July 20. Coordinated by Fire Training Consultants, a total of 37 different organizations were involved.
